Smooth arrival in Seoul

Traveling to a new country can be a mix of excitement and fatigue, especially when arriving late in the evening after a long flight. This was our experience when our family landed at Incheon International Airport in Seoul, South Korea. We were weary after the four-hour journey and decided to skip the usual transportation options to Seoul City Center, even missing the customary airport arrival photo.

As we approached the taxi stand, a friendly customer service representative welcomed us eagerly. We sought advice on the best way to reach Seoul, and considering our group of five, he directed us to taxi stand number 8. This stand featured jumbo taxis spacious vans capable of accommodating 6 to 10 passengers – a perfect fit for our travel-weary group.

Luck was on our side when we arrived at stand 8, where a brand-new Kia Carnival awaited us. It boasted four comfortable captain seats, promising a luxurious journey ahead. While the driver couldn't communicate in English, he was polite and hospitable. To bridge the language barrier, we showed him the address of our Airbnb accommodation in Seoul. To our amazement, he had a translation app on his smartphone, promptly converting the address into Korean characters, ensuring he understood our destination perfectly.

With our luggage safely stowed and our group settled comfortably in the spacious Kia Carnival, we embarked on our journey to Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The driver skillfully navigated the roads, providing a smooth and serene ride. As we gazed out of the windows, the city lights of Seoul twinkled in the distance, creating a warm and inviting ambiance.

The journey from Incheon Airport to Gangnam-gu took approximately one hour, granting us ample time to rest and savor the scenic views as Seoul came to life at night.

The cost of the taxi ride was Krw130,000 Korean won (Php5,500), which, considering the convenience and comfort it provided, felt like a reasonable expense for our group, particularly given that we had a senior citizen and a toddler with us.

In the end, we reached our Airbnb in Seoul without any difficulties, and our driver ensured we arrived at the correct location. The combination of the efficient transportation system at Incheon International Airport, the invaluable assistance of the airport staff, and our resourceful driver with his translation app assured a seamless start to our adventure in Seoul.
